Where imagination meets material — discovering hidden stories in the everyday.
I’m Griff,
Where imagination meets material — discovering hidden stories in the everyday.
I am a contemporary artist based in Scotland, working across painting, stained glass, wood, printmaking, photography, and sculpture. At the heart of my practice is storytelling — uncovering the magic in overlooked places, materials, and fragments of daily life. I am drawn to pareidolia and the way imagination can bring hidden narratives to life.
After many years in a different career, I made the decision to listen to the creative voice that had always been present in the background. That decision led me back into full-time education to pursue an art degree — a journey of learning, rediscovery, and creative growth that continues to shape both my work and my perspective.
This website is not only a place to share finished artwork, but also an open studio — a record of exploration, experimentation, and development. I invite you to join me on that journey as it unfolds. Alongside my collections, I will be sharing blog posts about exhibitions and museums I visit, artists who inspire my thinking, and insights from my own creative process.
My work invites others to look closer, to notice small details, and to discover unexpected connections between the natural and the made, the broken and the renewed.
My collections reflect different strands of this narrative:
Best Sellers brings together paintings and close-up details that celebrate colour and texture;
Imaginary Creatures grows from pareidolia and the playful patterns hidden in the world around us;
Printmaking captures my love of bold, simple marks;
Photography documents both the natural and the transformed;
and Sculptures combine glass, wood, and found materials into works that explore balance and renewal.
My art business has been designated as a Trusted Art Seller with The Art Storefronts Organization, meaning you can shop with confidence and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my work.
